Discover the world around you by asking scientific questions about why things happen. In our Mysteries and Myths program, students will investigate natural phenomena and other mysteries of the scientific world. Each week we will study a different natural phenomena and discover how that phenomenon occurs scientifically. Students will also debunk myths and learn to develop and ask meaningful scientific questions about the word around them.

Some projects that will be completed:
Mentos & Soda: Students will develop hypotheses about what will happen when we drop Mentos into a bottle of soda and perform experiments to find out! Students will learn about chemical reactions and catalysts as well as how to develop, test, and modify a working scientific hypothesis.
Launching Ships: Students will participate in an engineering design challenge. Their task, build a ship or a boat that when launched stays upright and floats. Students will learn the physics and engineering behind shipbuilding an how ships are launched out of a dry dock into an ocean, sea, or bay. Students will also learn about buoyancy and how it relates to density, and how even the heaviest of ships can stay afloat when physics says they should sink!
